2020 is behind us, and it is time for new beginnings! We are all thankful for that.
To start out the year, I want to throw out a challenge. Once a week, instead of basing choosing your accessories to match your outfit, pick one accessory first and plan an outfit around it. Getting dressed "backward" will push you to be creative with your fashion, break some boundaries, and take some risks. It will most likely give your wardrobe an entirely new vibe, because you'll probably pair pieces you never have before.
Hi! I'm Shelby!
I am a recent college grad and work at LelaBela in Marketing. I was born and raised in small-town Minnesota and am now ready to travel the world!
This is the perfect job for me, as I have always loved fashion. Even as a young girl, I would sit in my room for hours designing wedding dresses, trying different outfits, and mixing and matching accessories. It has been my dream to work in the world of fashion, and I now get to live out that dream!
Fashion is such a great outlet to express how I am feeling. Some days I will wear ripped black jeans, an oversized back sweater, chunky boots, and some edgy statement earrings, such as the Formidable earrings from LelaBela! The next day, however, you might catch me in a floral skirt, jean jacket, and a fun, colorful clutch like Babble Baby to showcase my bubbly personality!
Either way, you can use your inner fashionista to express how you feel and to showcase your confidence. If you're sitting here thinking to yourself, "Hmmm… I don't think I have the right accessories" or "I have no idea what accessories I should be wearing this year," don't you worry, I've got your back!
Dress Up That Face Mask
As you are all aware, wearing a mask has its disadvantages. But that doesn't mean you can't accessorize. Since your smile is covered, smile with your accessories!
While working in an office setting this past summer (where I was wearing a mask all day every day), I was determined to make my mask part of my outfit. I used my mask as an excuse to step up my earring game. I went from wearing the same small, simple earrings every day to wearing a different pair of big chunky or colorful earrings five days a week.
I have LOVED showing my personality in this way!
Once you've pinned down the statement earrings, add another piece to make your outfit pop. Weave in a bracelet that pulls it all together. Or add a stack of rings. The choice is yours!
Basic Isn't a Bad Word!
I often think that people feel the need to overcompensate with simple outfits (myself included!). But sometimes, basic is best.
Having a few basic chain options in your lineup is always a great idea. Start simple by having one silver and one gold chain that you can choose between when throwing on your boyfriend jeans and a graphic tee.
Owning and wearing these essential chains can be a great way to lean into the world of layering. Throw both on if you think something is missing. (Yes, you can wear gold and silver together!) I recently added the Converge chain from LelaBela to my wardrobe and have worn it daily since! It not only elevates my look tremendously, but it is also so utterly comfortable that I don't even notice it's there! My next snag will be the Countess chain, so I can pair the two together to get that fun and sassy layered look!
You've Got This In the Bag!
I'm always amazed at how a simple handbag can completely change an entire look.
While I was heading out to dinner the other night, I realized that my jeans and leather jacket weren't cutting it. I needed something to make my outfit POP! Then I realized that I had the LelaBela "Ride-Em" bag with me.
The unexpected print was like a "plot twist" to my outfit that was so worth it!
Virtually Perfect Style
Zoom and Microsoft Teams are mystical places. Despite sitting in the comfort of your own home or office, it can still be a struggle to feel at ease behind that camera and microphone.
I know I'm not the only one who struggles to get completely ready for a full day of sitting at home, but the great thing about these video meetings is that you only show half of your body. There is no worry about the belt, pants, skirts, shoes, socks, etc. You only have half of an outfit to plan, giving you double the opportunity to look your best!
Therefore, it is a great place to try those new earrings or pendant that may seem a little "out there" but that are going to get you noticed. Either way, take chances! Use those video meetings as an excuse to try something new for you! Relax and know you are looking your best, giving your best, and being your best.
I am so excited to see where this year's fashion trends take us. We have gone from gold to silver and back to gold. Styles and trends have altered from one earring to many earrings, from small earrings to big earrings, and from colorful pieces to neutral pieces.
There is a never-ending fluctuation with fashion. The good thing is, LelaBela will have just what you need to keep your jewelry box and accessory closet up-to-date.
It's no secret that fashion is everchanging and that it may be hard to keep up with at times, but the best accessory for anyone to wear is confidence! No matter what earrings you decide to throw on or what handbag you choose to strap on your shoulder, plan the outfit that feels right for you!
This year, be comfortable, be confident, and—above all—be bella!
